The best view is from Rutherford and Tyler Court where you can see the whole of Canterbury.
Join societies which suit your interests. You'll find people who have common interests and who might be in a similar position to you.
The food at Hut 8 is affordable and in my opinion tastes the best.
Ashford Designer Outlet is one train stop away from Canterbury. And as a Londoner it has all the shops I am used to in central London.
I always feel after a busy day in library and lectures, coming home is the best place to relax.
Saint Smokeys BBQ House is delicious. It’s located in town and I’d highly recommend if you like BBQ food.
My hidden gem is quite simple but effective. Go to any study room beside the library which are less busy and have the same vibe.
Anywhere DJvine is at. He’s a Kent student who always puts on the biggest show. His crowd control and his taste in music are near perfection.
I’ve spent a lot of time in Canterbury during my three years at Kent. There’s so much to do, I could be here all day sharing it with you!
Here are my best bits of this special city.
Westgate Gardens is my favourite place to visit, especially in the summer when all the flowers are in bloom and the weather is sunny.
It has to be just outside the library when the sun is setting! The sky is so colourful and contrasts perfectly with the décor of the surrounding buildings.
Mungo’s without a doubt. They serve everything from Korean chicken wings and veggie breakfast wraps, to ice-cream sundaes and waffles.
The Eleto Chocolate Café offers delicious Italian coffee, as well as a wonderful range of desserts and other drinks.
I recently discovered a new restaurant called The Cheeky Ramen! Not only was the authentic Japanese food delicious, but the vibe of the place was so calming and nostalgic too.
Woody's! If you’re into sports you will definitely find yourself here watching the football with your friends, or coming as part of a social with your society.
I’d say the Curzon cinema. I can’t think of a better way to relax than in a dimly lit room, watching a movie, in a reclining chair! They even bring your food to you at your seat!
The chill out zone in the library. The beanbag in there is so comfy, and the plants really add to the whole aesthetic of the room.
My friends and I went kayaking along the river last summer and paddled in the water. It was so much fun and was a perfect way to cool down in the hot weather.
K-pop night at Cuban! When you first walk in there’s a really nicely decorated swing where you can take photos with your friend, and an outdoor seating area where you can chill out and talk to people.
