Who does what
The USS pension negotiations take place at a national level, with a number of key groups and representative bodies involved in reaching final agreement
The below graphic from Universities UK has more information on some of the key parties and their role in discussions. USS, UUK and the UCU are all part of the Joint Negotiating Committee which works to seek agreement on the valuation of the scheme. A Joint Expert Panel made up of UUK and UCU nominees has also been supporting the process since 2018 through its own analysis of both the valuation process for the scheme and its longer-term sustainability.
