Why the University of Kent has a Transport Team
The campus locations are situated outside the Canterbury city centre and Medway town.
The University recognises the experience of travel to, from and around our campuses will impact someone’s mindset and most likely form their first impression about the university. It is essential for the University to provide excellent integrated transport links that are inclusive to everyone.
Research has shown that active Travel Plans that include relevant initiatives, actions and effective parking management are more successful in achieving changes in reducing single car occupancy. This supports the University commitments to improve air quality, reduce carbon emissions and improve our local environment for our staff, students and local communities.
The Commercial Services & Estates Directorate recognises that a one-size approach to travel does not fit everyone. We listened to staff and students stating that having one location to go to for all travel information and support would be helpful. The Transport Team was formed to help ensure Travel Plans remain active, provide ‘a one stop shop’ for transport information and work with local travel providers to deliver the best possible transport links and discounts.
