Suzanne brings extensive experience in library services, with a career dedicated to supporting teaching and research in different roles. Her expertise includes ensuring access to essential resources for students and lecturers and helping researchers publish their work Open Access so that it can be read and used as widely as possible. Over many years she has advanced Open Access publishing at Kent to maximize the visibility and impact of research.
Currently, Suzanne focuses on Open Research, where she plays a key role in preserving Kent’s scholarly outputs through the Kent Academic Repository (KAR) and Kent Data Repository (KDR). research.
Her team has implemented CRediT Taxonomy functionality in KAR, enabling detailed attribution of authors' contributions—a significant step forward in supporting initiatives like the Technician Commitment. This enhancement ensures recognition for technical contributions to research publications.Suzanne is also actively engaged in advancing Accessibility within KAR and KDR, reflecting her commitment to inclusivity in scholarly communication. Along with the other members of the OR team she was nominated for the EDI Staff Awards for 2022 and 2023 for 'Embedding accessibility in research support and scholarly communication systems and processes.’
Her involvement with the Technician Commitment deepened following her participation in the Eastern Arc Technician Symposium in 2024 at the University of Sussex.
Outside of her professional life, Suzanne enjoys Lindy Hop dancing, theatre, cinema, reading, and exploring the outdoors through walking.
