Anne is the Head of Complex Needs for The Richmond Fellowship Scotland, a large social care provider in Scotland. As part of this role she has managed the organisation's Positive Behaviour Support team for the past 13 years.
Anne is also seconded part-time to the Scottish Government where she leads a project in relation to out-of-area placements and delayed discharge from hospital for people with intellectual disabilties and complex needs. The project will collect data across Scotland regarding these types of placements and then provide recommendations to the Scottish Government, in relation to the development of high quality, local, sustainable and community-based alternatives. Part of this role is to take a national approach to scope the use of PBS across Scotland and to make recommendations for its future implementation and development.
Anne completed her PhD at the Tizard Centre in 2016 "An evaluation of staff training in positive behaviour support", having previously completed her MSc in Analysis and Intervention in Learning Disabilities at Tizard in 2004. In 2017, she became the book editor for the International Journal of Positive Behavioural Support and also received a BILD Leadership award as an Early Career Researcher. Her research interests are around the impact of support interventions on the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities and complex needs, particularly in relation to the use of PBS.
