Leanne Taylor

Leanne Taylor qualified as a social worker in the 1990s and worked for Kent County Council as a mental health social worker and an approved social worker until the late 2000s. She maintains her status as a registered social worker. 
Leanne studied law as an undergraduate at Kent Law School and gained an LLB in 2007-10. She has since completed a PGDip in Legal Practice, and the Kent PGCert in Higher Education.  
On joining the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research in 2010, Leanne participated on the undergraduate introduction to law for social workers module. She now runs workshops on BA and MA social work modules in areas relating to the law and child protection, mental capacity, mental health, and adult social care. She also gives workshops on matters relating to social work with transgender and gender-diverse people.
Leanne is currently the Chief Examiner to the social work programs at Kent.   

Leanne convenes modules on law for the BA, Degree Apprenticeship, MA, and Step UP Social Work programmes. She also runs workshops around mental health, adult social care, and child protection at undergraduate and postgraduate levels

Leanne is a panel member on the First Tier Tribunal (Mental Health) – HM Courts and Tribunals Service. She also provides training sessions on LGBT+ issues and mental health for the Judicial College, as well as other social work organisations and local authorities. She is an advisory board member of the Good Law Project’s legal defence fund for transgender lives.
