Jane teaches modules on European Union politics, public policy analysis and comparative politics more broadly as well as being strongly involved the teaching of key learning skills to Politics and International Relations (PolIR) students at Kent. In the last few years she has held educational leadership roles within the University including Divisional Director of Education and Student Experience (Division of Human and Social Sciences) where she has been closely involved in the development and implementation of Kent’s 2030 educational strategy, following on from her position of Director of Undergraduate Studies (PolIR). Following the Brexit referendum, Jane completed a research project on responsive teaching of the EU in the UK during the Brexit process, with its uncertainty and flux. Her broader research has focused on policy-making processes within the EU and how adaptation to EU governance affects domestic policy actors, politics and policy-making, particularly in Ireland.
Jane holds a PhD in Political Science from Trinity College Dublin and an MPhil and BA in European Studies from University College Cork, Ireland. She also holds a PGCHE and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
