The School of Politics and The POLIR Society present ‘Manifesto’, a feature length documentary about Walton CLP giving a first-hand account of grassroots community activism, depicting the work and effort that goes into party politics away from Westminster.
‘Over three pivotal years in UK politics, Manifesto follows activists in the safest Labour seat in the country as they campaign for change.’
Followed by an on line Q & A with Alan Gibbons, a Councillor who features the film.
Alan an independent Councillor, was expelled from the Labour party for being part of a group of rebel members who voted against local budget cuts. As Dr Ben Tuner suggests,
‘An interesting figure for anyone interested in the legacy of Corbynism or the divisions within the Labour party.’
