Criminologist Dr Simon Cottee has been made a Visiting Senior Fellow on a new fellowship programme at leading US liberal-arts college Wellesley College.
During his fellowship Dr Cottee, author of The Apostates: When Muslims leave Islam, will write a book looking at how ISIS uses staged videoed atrocities to repulse and attract different audiences.
Dr Cottee, Senior Lecturer within the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, will join Wellesley College during January and work there until August 2017.
The new fellowship programme at the Massachusetts-based college is part of The Freedom Project, which is ‘dedicated to the exploration of the idea of freedom in all of its manifestations, but especially in the tradition of Western classical liberalism’.
