We are delighted to report that Dr Beth Breeze has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) “For services to Philanthropic Research and Fundraising”.
Dr Breeze is Director of the University’s Centre for Philanthropy, which she co-founded in 2008, and Reader in Social Policy. She has worked in the field of philanthropy for 25 years.
Upon being notified of her OBE, Dr Breeze said: ‘I am truly surprised and very grateful for the recognition this honour brings to my field of philanthropy research. I have the greatest respect for those who give their money and time, and those who work as fundraisers. My contribution is simply to study those who donate and ask, so that we can improve understanding of who gives, to what and why, and how both philanthropy and fundraising can be done more ethically and effectively to create a stronger charity sector.’
