On Friday 28 September, the University received a visit to its Canterbury campus from Mr Yongli Wang, the Minister Counsellor (Education) at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the UK.
He was accompanied by the Second Secretary for Education, Ms Haiying Yu.
During the visit Mr Wang and Ms Yu met with Chinese staff and students, received tours of the campus and the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, and learned about research at Kent.
They also met with Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Karen Cox.
The visitors were welcomed by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & Innovation Professor Philippe de Wilde, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education Professor April McMahon and Dean for Internationalisation Dr Anthony Manning, as well as representatives from the University’s Chinese Student Service Association, the Directorate of International Recruitment, the Directorate of International Partnerships and the schools of Computing, European Culture & Languages and Maths, Statistics & Actuarial Science.
Mr Wang and Ms Yu also attended the University’s Foundation Day Lecture and Dinner in the evening.
The visit was hosted by the Office of the Vice Chancellor and the Directorate of International Recruitment.
