Kent remains one of the best universities in the UK, according to The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017.
Kent’s 23rd place ranking is accompanied by the news that it also has achieved a top 10 position in seven subject areas listed by the Guide – with criminology, social work and social policy in the top five – and a top 20 position in 17 subject areas.
The criteria used by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide includes an analysis of student satisfaction with the quality of the teaching at each institution, and the wider university experience.
Kent was recently ranked fifth out of 120 UK universities in a mock Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) exercise modelled by the Times Higher Education (THE). The University’s achievement in this exercise contributed to it being shortlisted for a research and teaching excellence award in this year’s THE Awards.
It also achieved a fourth highest score for overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2016, with its scores for teaching, academic support, and the organisation and management of its courses ranking it above the national average in these areas.
The other criteria used by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide are research quality, entry qualifications, graduate job prospects, degree outcomes achieved, student-staff ratios, services and facilities spend, and completion rates.
