From choral singing to orchestral playing, big band swing, concert band repertoire, string orchestra, musical theatre and more
As well as the many concerts in the award-winning Colyer-Fergusson Hall, there are also opportunities to perform in other venues, including the spectacular surroundings of Canterbury Cathedral and other historic and exciting spaces around the region.
If you sing or play an instrument you can join the Chorus, Symphony Orchestra, Concert and Big Bands and Chamber Choir, who rehearse weekly for public concerts each term. Many other ensembles and bands are formed each year, and budding soloists and conductors also have a chance to develop their talents.
The Music Department presents a regular series of Lunchtime Concerts in Colyer-Fergusson Hall and foyer, which feature both professional and University performers, and also promotes a number of prestigious evening concerts each year. These have included the Brodsky Quartet, I Fagiolini, the folk group Fara, and the London Community Gospel Choir. There are often opportunities to attend afternoon workshops with visiting musicians
Many other musical events take place across the University. The Gulbenkian hosts an array of music events ranging from classical and jazz to pop, world and folk.

The Employability Points scheme rewards students for participation in extra-curricular activities, with prizes sponsored by a range of employers.
Music Performance Scholarships are awarded each year to talented instrumentalists and singers studying for any degree at Kent.
