Reading Rayner Collection

Jack Reading and Colin Rayner began donating their collection of books, pamphlets, and periodicals relating to the performing arts to the Templeman Library in the mid 1980s.

The collection includes:

  • theatre history
  • biography
  • memoirs
  • playtexts
  • programmes
  • magazines

One of the most interesting of the periodicals is the Play Pictorial, which we have catalogued in detail.

Most of the earlier gifts, amounting to some 4,000 volumes, are catalogued.  Further donations are gradually being catalogued.
