Our legal services

Our legal services

If you live in Kent and need legal advice but can't afford to pay, you can seek help from the Clinic. These are the types of services we provide:

Advice sessions

Primarily, we offer advice in the form of a free evening advice session with a legal advisor. Advice sessions are offered for the following areas of law:

  • family
  • employment
  • housing (e.g. tenancy issues)
  • wills and probate
  • civil litigation (e.g. contract disputes, consumer law)

The advice sessions run from September to March by appointment. The sessions are mostly online and usually take place on Monday evenings between 6-8pm.

There are no advice sessions available between April and August but we may be able to refer you to other organisations who can help.

If we are unable to offer an Advice Session, in some other cases we may be able to offer written or telephone advice.

Legal representation

Kent Law Clinic takes on a limited number of cases. Casework is carried out by student caseworkers under the supervision of the Clinic’s legal practitioners.

We specialise in the following areas of law:

  • immigration, asylum and citizenship
  • employment
  • family
  • housing
  • public law
  • welfare benefits.
