Ru Su

Ru Su joined the University of Kent in 2011 as a Mandarin Chinese Tutor. She has been a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) since 2019. Su obtained the Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) in 2014. She graduated from QuFu Normal University located in the hometown of Confucius, in China.

Su was recently appointed as the Chinese External Examiner at De Montfort University Leicester (2020). Previously, she served as the Mandarin External Examiner at Kingston University London, Leeds Beckett University, and at the University of Bath. 

Before moving to Canterbury, Su was a Chinese tutor at the University of Leicester. Prior to being appointed as a full-time Mandarin Chinese tutor at the University of Kent in September 2012, she taught GCSE and A levels Chinese in local schools.

Su enjoys creating Chinese teaching/learning materials using modern technology as well as exploring the opportunities to enhance students’ Chinese language and culture experience beyond the classrooms. To this end, she set up the Short-term Exchange Programme between the University of Kent and Xi’an KeDaGaoXin University in China.

Su convenes and teaches Mandarin modules at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels, including Language Express (LX) courses.
