Matthew is a senior manager with over 30 years experience in local government. He is head of corporate governance at Canterbury City Council, responsible for democratic and information governance and a member of the corporate management team advising on strategic issues and general council policy making. 

The emphasis is on the delivery of highly cost effective, customer focused services where improved performance is achieved through effective leadership and relationship management with councillors, senior officers and partners.

Understanding the political and regulatory context of local government can be very helpful to business leaders. Participation on the Board enables him to bring his experience and learn from others who operate in different business sectors.
