Kent Business School (KBS) hosted the third Kent Business Summit on Friday 10 January 2020 at Sibson, Canterbury campus. Close to 400 delegates attended from a wide range of sectors, together with regional policymakers and sector bodies.
The role of the University of Kent and Kent Business School was to act as a neutral facilitator for discussion, provide thought leadership and encourage discussion on key themes: transport infrastructure, productivity, placemaking for Kent and skills development.
David Williamson, Director of External Services at KBS explained: “Through speaking with our partners these themes arose as essential areas to address to ensure the Kent economy continues to be a vibrant and attractive place to do business.” David added, the “the overriding theme was the need to share best practice and in terms of our business models, recognise that the era of sharing and sustainability is upon us and offers new routes to competitive advantage and economic growth.”
Darren Rigden, Partner, Crowe U.K LLP said “as the headline sponsor for the third year, it was great to see so many businesses at the event and such good quality presentations coupled with some great debates in the breakout sessions. At Crowe, we are proud to have been part of something which brought business and expertise together across the region.”
The Summit was organised in partnership with the Institute of Directors, Locate in Kent and the Federation of Small Business. The event was made possible through generous donations from head Sponsor, Crowe, and supporting sponsors Southeastern Railway, Brachers LLP and Santander as well as media partner, KM Media Group. Special mention to the Kent Business School students who helped on the day and Floortje Hoette for the behind-the-scenes coordination.
