David joined the Centre in 2016 as Lecturer in Media Law. He teaches modules on media law and regulation for undergraduate and postgraduate students. His research interests mainly relate to defamation law, on which he has published articles in the Journal of Media Law and Communications Law, but also include other areas of law that affect freedom of speech or media freedom.
He has an LLB in Law from the University of Portsmouth and an LLM in Media Law, Policy and Practice from the University of East Anglia; and has been awarded his PhD from the University of Portsmouth in May 2020 which evaluates the treatment of corporate claimants in English defamation law.
