International Year Zero

The International Year Zero (IYZ) is the first year of an integrated 4-year programme. Your first year is taught at University of Kent International College (UK IC) on the Canterbury campus. Once you successfully complete this year, you will continue studying the remaining stages of your degree at University of Kent.

During the three terms of the IYZ programme, you’ll gain additional skills in your chosen study route and the necessary English language skills to succeed during your studies. This year caters specifically for the needs of international students to develop subject-specific knowledge with a strong focus on improving your academic English language skills in preparation for studying at University of Kent.

You'll be a full member of our diverse student community from day one, with access to all the study, social, sports and support facilities the University offers. With accommodation in the student village on the Canterbury campus, the same location as our International College you are in the heart of student life.
