Promotional stands in the Library

You can apply to put up a promotional stand in the Templeman Library.

What stands can be used for

We welcome applications for promotional stands that support our academic life at Kent.  

Who can apply

  • University of Kent academic schools, divisions and professional service departments
  • Kent Union   
  • Academic societies, if your topic is linked to our collections, for example to diversity months (Black History, Disability, LGBTQ+ etc)
  • External organisations, if your topic is related to library services or collections.

What stands can't be used for

  • University social society promotions
  • Non-academic societies
  • Political promotions or individual candidates in Kent Union elections
  • Commercial organisations not related to Library services or collections
  • Students interviewing for your studies, fundraising or research
  • Raising money for charity or making sales

Example of a promotional stand in the Library

How to apply

  1. You need to apply at least 2 weeks in advance.
  2. Submit your application. This form includes a risk assessment: to complete it you need to think about any hazards that may be associated with your activity and how to mitigate them.

We will reserve a space and can provide a table and chairs.    

Running your stand

  • When you arrive, report to the Welcome Desk (near the Main Entrance) with your booking form.
  • You need to comply with library regulations and health and safety.
  • Don't hand out leaflets or approach library users away from your stand.
  • Avoid making noise and disturbing library users.
