SignLive BSL interpretation service

We have partnered with virtual British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreting Service SignLive so that deaf BSL users can connect to the University via a registered interpreter.

Virtual relay service

If you are a BSL user, you can use SignLive to telephone the University through a registered interpreter, who will relay your conversation via a video call. Just log in to the SignLive app on iOS, Android, or a web browser and find 'University of Kent' in the Community Directory.

When you call, the Interpreter may confirm who you want to get in touch with. If you’ve never used SignLive before you will need to register, but all calls through the Community Directory are free of charge.

Remote interpretation service

We are also registered with SignLive's remote interpretation service, which means we can access an interpreter for any BSL users who may wish to communicate with staff on campus. Staff can contact the Accessible Information team to get access to this service.
