Planning for graduation for guests

Please read through the FAQs about how to support your graduand in planning for their graduation.

The graduation team cannot provide you with any details specific to your graduand without consent from them. This includes whether they have booked to attend the ceremony or when their ceremony is taking place.

Information which is generic about the day can be provided to you.

If you are in touch with the University on their behalf, then we will need to gather new consent from the graduand on sharing information about their graduation.

Please ask them to get in touch with us.

FAQ list

The ceremony dates and times are available to view online, when the specific ceremonies are assigned to each School they will be published here too.

Please note that we cannot tell you when your graduand's ceremony is taking place, you will need to check with them.

Your graduand will be sent an invitation to book for the ceremony, they will need to follow the instructions sent to them. Guests cannot book for the ceremony themselves.

Providing that the deadline to book has not passed, and the ceremony capacity has not been reached then graduands can apply for up to two guest tickets

Extra tickets

Extra tickets are not guaranteed for every ceremony and should not be relied upon when making plans to attend.

Once the initial registration deadline has passed, then the numbers of tickets remaining for the ceremonies will be assessed.

All registered and attending graduands who have paid their registration fee will then be advised via email of a date and time that additional tickets would be available.  These would be sold online on a first-come, first-served basis.

We want to ensure that all our guests can fully participate in graduation ceremonies.

Please let us know if there are any arrangements we can put in place and read further information here.

In order to attend the ceremony some guests may require confirmation of their graduation invitation to obtain either:

  • Exit clearance from their home country; or entry clearance to the UK.

A visa letter can be produced but only the graduand can apply, please ask them to follow the steps in the invitation.
