The University of Kent has long-standing partnerships and collaborative links covering teaching and research with a large number of prestigious European and international higher education institutions.
These partnerships include student and staff exchanges both within Erasmus+ and further afield, dual awards, research collaboration, and enterprise links.
We value our relationships with our existing partners and welcome interest from other institutions wishing to develop future links.
International partnership and network development is an activity that cuts across all sections of the university, providing opportunity for engagement at every level.
Kent’s participation in Erasmus+, offers great opportunities for staff to take part in professional development activities across Europe.
Kent's 200+ student exchange agreements with over 100 universities across 36 countries, provides excellent 'Go Abroad' student opportunities
Partnerships with institutions around the world provide opportunity for co-supervision of research, joint research and the exchange of knowledge
Strong global links provide for cross-institutional activity that fosters relationship building, knowledge-exchange and the sharing of good practice
“As well as gaining new perspectives this has also been a great way to meet colleagues from another European institution, to share good practice and to explore roles similar to mine
The SGroup Universities in Europe Network (SGroup) is a dynamic non-for-profit organisation founded in 1989 composed of over 30 higher education institutions from Europe and across the world. The aim of the network is to foster university excellence in education and research and to promote continuous adaptation to educational and societal needs in a creative and innovative way. Its mission is based on four core areas of co-operation: internationalisation strategy, academic collaboration, academic mobility, and transfer of knowledge.
Kent joined the SGroup in April 2011 and has used its membership of the network to strengthen both its European and international partnerships, giving rise to a range of mobility opportunities for students and staff.
The University was proud to host the SGroup annual meetings in 2019, which saw representatives from 32 member institutions from 17 European countries attend as well as one of the network’s associate partners from Colombia.

The 3i University Network: Interregional Internationalisation Initiative will intensify collaboration between the member partners (Ghent, KU Leuven, Lille and Kent), and take advantage of each other’s strengths in terms of research, academic and professional training, administrative and infrastructure. The agreement signed in 2020, provides a framework for collaboration between the 4 partners which aims to respond to shared cross-border regional challenges, bringing together higher education, local and regional business and governmental organisations, in order to identify strategies and approaches to address these shared challenges.
