Travel discounts
The University recognises the variety of benefits that bus, train and coach travel have to offer. We work closely with local companies to provide subsidies towards improvements and to offer discounted travel options to University staff and students. A number of discounts are available, these include;

Trains
Train travel discounts
There are a selection of discounted train tickets available from Southeastern Trains;

PLUSBUS is a discounted ticket for unlimited local bus travel (like a bus pass) that you purchase along side your train ticket. |

Oyster Card |
The University of Kent has registered with the TfL Oyster card scheme, which enables eligible students to travel by train at a reduced rate. |
As the name suggests, you can apply if you are aged between 16 and 25! You can also apply if you are over 26 and in full time study. |

A Network Railcard gives you a third off most rail fares for journeys in the Network Railcard area and can also save you money on trips to and around London. |

If you have a disability that makes travelling by train difficult, you might qualify for the Disabled Persons Railcard. This Railcard permits you one third off most rail fares throughout the UK. If you're travelling with an adult companion, they can also get the same discount - so you can save money for your friends too! |

Costing just £30, the Family & Friends Railcard gives you a discount of a one third on adult and 60% on kids' fares across the UK for a year. You must travel with a child between 5 and 15 years old to be eligible. |

The HM Forces Railcard costs £15 and it will save you one third on most rail fares throughout the UK for a whole year. You're eligible if you're a member of the Regular Forces or a spouse of a member. |

The Senior Railcard costs £30 for a year and gives you a discount of one third on Standard and First Class fares across the UK. The discount also extends to Advance fares, providing that they are booked before you travel. |

If you're aged 16 to 26 or a full time student and would like to make infrequent journeys using the coach, you can take advantage of some fantastic discounts and promotions with a National Express 16to26 Coachcard.
