Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions are answered here. If you have a question for us outside of the below, please contact employabilitypoints@kent.ac.uk.

I have 200 points. What can I apply for?

  • Up to 4 internships and as many other rewards as you want after that. We don't take points until you have undertaken the reward.

Am I guaranteed an internship, work experience or a reward?

  • No. We offer the opportunity to apply for exclusive and unique opportunities.

Why should I get involved if I'm not guaranteed anything?

  • We encourage you to get involved with the careers service, events and lectures which interest you. Even if you are not rewarded anything this year through EP, you will be getting involved in something you are interested in and improving your employability through getting involved with the careers service - i.e. CV reviews, applications, or practice interviews. Also, we recommend you apply for as much as you can, not just work based rewards. We will do our best to shortlist and make sure that you do get a reward which you have applied for.

I'm in my second year and was unsuccessful in getting the reward I applied for. What happens to the points I've earned this year?

  • Your points automatically roll over into the next year of your study and will not reset between years. You can use them for next years reward process.

I have done this thing outside of university. Can I log this activity for points?

  • Certainly! The guide for what we award points for is not comprehensive. We will certainly consider giving points for something not mentioned already. Just contact us at the email address above.

Is there a cut off point for me getting points?

  • No, but there is a deadline for you to be able to use your points to apply for rewards. This is around March - the team does not validate points logged past the deadline, until around June.

I've applied for a reward. When will I hear back from you?

  • This will usually be around a month after the applications have closed. We have to shortlist and arrange interviews which can be time consuming.

I've just found out about this scheme! When can I log points from?

  • Points can be logged from when you started university to when you have ended. If you are in your second or third year, you can log activities from your first year. Just check what can be given points for & give us details.

I've attended an event, but I've not been given points from it. What can I do?

  • Either it will be bulk uploaded if it is in connection with the Careers and Employability Service, or log it via MyFolio. Some departments don't share that information with us. Let us know what you have done and we will give points for it.

I did a thing before I started university. Can I still log it and get points?

  • You can log it, but we will not give you points for it. We can only give you points if you have completed the activity during your time at university.

I've logged this activity, but think I should be getting more points for it. What should I do?

  • Drop us an email and we will either adjust the points or give our justification for the amount of points given.
