This past Monday, April 4th, the Economics Society won the best Academic Society of the Year award at Kent Union’s Activities Awards! This is their third time winning this award, with the first time being in 2020.
We’d like to extend our congratulations to the society for their well-deserved win for the excellent work they do for our academic community. From their weekly events filled with employability, to their annual flagship summit event, we couldn’t think of a better society to win it.
They scooped this award in 2020, and 2021, and this isn’t the only award they’ve won either––they’ve also taken home the Outstanding Contribution to Academic Communities award in the past. The President of the society, Aliye Osman, was also nominated for the Lasting Impact award for her contributions.
“It was an amazing night to celebrate students that put in hard work year-round to make Kent societies what they are!” said Aliye Osman.
The society, along with the other nominees of the awards, were treated to a fun night of games like music bingo and heads and tails, a chocolate fountain and doughnut wall, and a two-course meal to celebrate their achievements.
Thank you again to all of the students who put in long hours of volunteering and work to make the society run smoothly, and to the Union for putting on the awards!
