Later in the week, the UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow. This motivated PhD student Yannis Galankis to see how many firms are still active in sectors where “green jobs” exist.
I saw the UK’s government target to become greener by 2030 and as the COP26 approaches on Sunday There is some discussion surrounding it. However, it is very hard to define which sectors are “green”. That’s why I followed as closely as possible, given my data constraint, the ONS definition.
It seems that environmental construction and consultancy observed most of the registrations since 2019. However, this may be driven generally by the firm creation robustness in the construction sector in general during COVID-19.
