Course overview

Physics reaches from the quark out to the largest of galaxies, and encompasses all the matter and timescales within these extremes.

By combining physics with astrophysics, you'll use the principles of physics to explore the cosmos – from our own solar system to galaxies and cosmology – and develop your understanding of the material world. You'll study the physical nature of bodies and processes in space, and the instruments and techniques used in modern astronomical research.

Adding a Year in Industry year to your degree allows you to gain valuable work experience and discover how physics is applied in the real world. Your placement can take place in the UK or abroad and many pay a salary.

Our focus is on helping you follow your passion as well as giving you the best possible start to your future. You'll gain a wide range of skills that will open up career pathways in the growing space industry, finance, manufacturing and technology.

If you don’t have a science background or don’t meet our entry requirements, you can take our foundation year.

Inspired by the wonders of the universe?

If you'd like to get involved in real space missions from ESA and NASA and work on Hubble Telescope data, you'll be interested in our Astronomy, Space Science and Astrophysics course.

Accreditation

This course is fully accredited by the Institute of Physics.
