Accounting & Finance and Economics BSc (Hons)
Kent has definitely been a good choice for me, it’s always felt like home.
The campus, how it looked and how it felt on an Open Day. Kent cares about you! The resources are excellent and the campus is designed to help us achieve the best we can. Canterbury is great too, it’s big but it feels like a community.
My lecturers really show that they care about you and that they’re there to support you. They also make time to help you, everyone does. If we don't understand anything we can send them an email, or we can visit them during their office hours. Some even have additional lectures if we feel we need some extra support.
I enjoy all of them, it’s all so new to me. I enjoy economics and have a good knowledge base from A level and I feel like I relate my Accounting and Finance course to the real world. That’s actually one of the reasons why I chose to study my course – because I feel that I can connect it to the real world.
Our seminar leaders and lecturers are active researchers and they work in the field which really helps us to connect with what we learn.
I will do my placement next year and I’m really looking forward to getting some experience in the field. I haven't decided which companies yet, maybe PwC, Microsoft or Disney.
The facilities are really modern. I’m in the Sibson building which is pretty much brand new. The Bloomberg suite is great, it’s completely different from our normal lectures, we can put our knowledge into practice there. It’s good to get used to industry equipment too.
Yes, I just became one. I received an email about it and I thought it would give me a chance to help people. Kent is a really community-centred university, they promote the spirit of helping one another. I thought it would be great to get involved with. You can go to events and meet new people which has been a struggle during Covid. It puts you outside of your comfort zone too, which is good.
I definitely want to follow a career in banking or build my own business.
Flexible, solidarity, friendship. Everyone is always there for each other.
Kent has definitely been a good choice for me, it’s always felt like home. When somewhere feels like that, before you get to know it properly, it’s a sign that it’s the right place for you. I would just advise students to go to a uni that feels welcoming and right for them.
Yes, and at Christmas after I applied Kent sent us cards. It really helped me to pick Kent as it was nice to know that someone was thinking of you during that time.
