This module aims to provide students with a detailed knowledge and deep understanding of the formulation of solid dosage forms, powder technology and other pharmaceutical factors affecting the manufacture and delivery of oral dosage forms. Students will develop a critical understanding of key aspects of physiochemical and biopharmaceutical properties of drug substances. In addition, the module will cover key concepts and principles of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism. Instrumental analytical methods used in a pharmaceutical context and their bases in theory will be strengthened by giving students practical experience of using a variety of analytical instruments in exploring selected pharmaceutical applications.

60% examination, 40% continuous assessment and satisfactory attendance and performance at all scheduled coursework sessions (workshops and laboratories).
