Gleaning Project with the University of Kent

Our Sales Manager Sandra recently joined the ResLife team for their gleaning initiative. The team partnered with FareShare UK to support the University of Kent’s ‘Right to Food‘ programme.

Staff and students visited a local farm near Teynham in Kent to glean Brabourne apples that would otherwise have been left to rot on the trees.

FareShare took some of the apples to distribute to local food banks and charities. Others were brought back to the University of Kent to give to our students, and one of our amazing chefs hosted a cookery class with students in the afternoon.

We were joined by ITV Meridian at the farm, who filmed a piece on the gleaning project. You can watch the news piece here.

We are looking forward to participating in the next gleaning trip and contributing to a more sustainable University.
