Professor Frank Zhigang Wang

Five years after earning his PhD, Frank achieved a promotion to a full professorship at the Cambridge Cranfield High Performance Computing Facility in 2004. In 2010, he assumed the role of Head of the School of Computing at the University of Kent.

To date, Frank has successfully secured research grants totaling £5 million from the EC/UK/industries. He has also chaired or co-chaired more than 10 international conferences, such as the ACM Conference on Information and Education Innovations (Manchester, 2023), International Conference on Computing Informatics and Networks (Delhi, 2022), International Collegiate Competition for Brain-Inspired Computing (Beijing, 2018), International Conference on Frontiers and Advances in Analytics and Data Science (Xi’an, 2017), 8th International Conference on Next Generation Mobile Apps, Services, and Technologies (Oxford, 2014), International Conference on Cloud and Service Computing (Shanghai, 2012), 11th IEEE International Conference on Computational Science and Engineering (São Paulo, 2008), IEEE Conference on Networking, Architecture, and Storage (Guilin, 2007), and IEEE Conference on Scalable Information Systems (Hong Kong, 2006).

Frank has served as a panel member for the UK government EPSRC "ICT," "e-Science," and "Hardware for Efficient Computing" programs. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS) and currently holds the position of Region 8 Area 2 Coordinator for the IEEE Computer Society, overseeing more than 10 Western European countries, including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Iceland, Denmark, Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal. Until 2023, he served as the Chairman of the UK and Ireland Chapter, IEEE Computer Society.
