- Dr Katie Spencer
Katie is a conservation science postdoctoral associate, researching biodiversity trends and emerging human and environmental threats in Indonesia. Her PhD - also completed within DICE - focused on assessing the impacts of landscape changes on terrestrial mammals in Borneo, utilising existing camera-trap data and remote-sensing technologies. Currently, in her postdoctoral role, she is continuing this research while integrating social science methodologies to explore wild meat consumption and hunting practices across Indonesian Borneo. Her work aims to inform strategies that address both ecological and human dimensions of wildlife conservation in the tropics.
Katie is an active member within the DICE community - she has volunteered at BioBlitz events, helped organised the annual DICE Twitter conference and is a member of the Women in Conservation Canterbury Network (WCCN).
