Third-year, Social Anthropology student Elle Soo blogs about taking on the lead vocals ahead of this weekend’s Big Band Rehearsal with Music at Kent.
It has been like a dream being able to rehearse with the university big band again. After what seems like a 15-month music slumber – we cracked open our instruments and warmed up our voices to immerse ourselves in this soul-moving symphony.
The rapport our band shares is connected through our love for music and it really shines through how each week gets progressively more refined. As musicians step forward to enchant our ears with melodic patterns they’ve polished over this extended intermission.
We have gotten together in the past month to curate a performance setlist that is ready to astound and celebrate all that is great in life and music.
Not only have we gathered for rehearsals with enthusiastic spirits but we are so excited to be able to share it through the Big Band Summer Swing concert this Sunday at 2.30pm.
From what is a limited-seated concert we had to make sure our audience and band members stay safe. We joined arms with the Gulbenkian tech team and made sure the concert will also be live-streamed.
