Band structure A carries an hourly rate of £11.66 p/h or £13.11 p/h for over-21s. Please note that not all roles are available within all departments, and that other roles may exist which are not included here. All rates of pay include holiday uplift.

Applicant Days

Responsibilities – Working on Canterbury and Medway campuses providing applicants and their family/friends with an introduction to the University and its facilities. Leads campus tours, assists visitors with an introduction about the student experience at Kent.

Skills required – Friendly and approachable, a committed team player with the ability to use initiative. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about higher education and the University of Kent.

Training required – Core Training, Applicant Day Briefing

Campus Tours

Responsibilities – Working on Canterbury and Medway campuses providing applicants or potential applicants and their family/friends with an introduction to the University and its facilities. Leads campus tours, assists visitors with an introduction about the student experience at Kent.

Campus Visits

Responsibilities – Assist with on-campus Outreach and Recruitment activities, including supporting the visiting school students in their academic sessions, leading campus tours, answering questions from students throughout their visit (and on panel sessions) and providing students with anecdotal information about the university experience.

Skills required – Friendly and approachable, a committed team player with the ability to use initiative.  Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about higher education and the University of Kent.

Training required – Core Training

Open Days

Responsibilities – Assisting with the smooth running of the University’s Open Days.  Leading campus tours, answering queries from potential applicants.

Residential Support

Responsibilities – Assisting on the Outreach residential programme, looking after a corridor of visiting school students.  This role is commensurate with the day-time duties of the campus visit role but you will be also be on-call during the night.

Skills required – A mature and responsible attitude and approach to work.  High energy levels and enthusiasm for higher education.  The ability to remain calm under pressure and work exceptionally well in a team environment.

Training required – Core Training, Residential Mentor training

Evaluation Ambassador

Responsibilities – Ensuring data collected during outreach activities is entered onto the HEAT database in an accurate and timely manner. Analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data and report writing, to investigate the effectiveness of events and initiatives.

Skills required – Excellent attention to detail, efficient report writing and strong research and analytical skills.

Pre-requisites –Enrolled on a programme of study at the University of Kent (UG or PG). Clear understanding and awareness of widening participation and the work of the Outreach and Widening Participation team.

Training required – Core training, Data Protection training. Further training will be provided.
