For over 25 years, Terry O'Brien has been the Director of Marketing for the O'Brien Automotive Family, a 4th-generation family business serving central Indiana since 1933. He has 13 siblings and currently works with 17 family members at three dealerships retailing Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Toyota vehicles.

Terry has a BA in Cinema Television Production from the University of Southern California (1988), and attended the University of Kent in Canterbury (Eliot) through the Overseas Studies Program for the 1985-86 academic year.

In addition to serving on the University of Kent Board since 2019, Terry currently serves as Board Member and Communications Chair on the Village of WestClay Owners' Association Board in Carmel, Indiana since 2018. In recent years, he served as President, Communications Chair, and Town Councilor for 12 years for the Town of Meridian Hills, Indiana, and President and Secretary for three years for Palisades Park, Michigan. He and his wife, Laura, have four children: Emma (25), John (23), Clara (21), and James (17), and a Shih Tzu named Toonces! 

His family loves traveling and hopes to return to Kent for a visit in the near future. His recent focus on the Board has been to establish a way for UKA to have Kent branded merchandise. He'd love to connect with any Kent alum, and is happy to advise any prospective, current or recent students.
