At these institutions, he has administered university-wide summer programs (GWU); developed new offerings for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (UVA); served as the highest-ranking academic leader in the College of Business and Management for three DC-area campuses (DeVry); and conceived and developed numerous new curriculum areas and courses (USDA). His professional interests coalesce around working with both adjunct and full-time faculty; serving adult and non-traditional learners; and expanding the reach of online education.
He holds a PhD in English and American Literature from Brandeis University (2000) and has lived up and down the Eastern seaboard since 1987 (with a distinct soft spot for Boston). A native of Aschaffenburg, Germany, after attending the University of Würzburg for two years he spent a formative year studying English literature at the University of Kent at Canterbury (1986/1987) and completed his Master’s degree at SUNY Oneonta (1988). He has been married to his wife Lisa for 22 years, and they have one daughter (Andi), a rising high school senior (as well as two cats). When not working, he enjoys reading, traveling, running and watching soccer and baseball (Go Red Sox!).
