Overview

The module enables students to gain cross-cultural skills through both living and studying in another country, whilst at the same time developing their knowledge, understanding and application of economics to a global environment.

Students take modules equivalent to 120 Kent Credits from across a range of economics, mathematics, and social science subject areas. The curriculum will vary depending on the partner institution and the modules chosen.

Contact hours

Learning and teaching methods will vary depending on the partner institution and the modules chosen. Inclusive of independent study, this module will require a total of 1,200 hours of study. The different learning and teaching methods will collectively enable students to achieve learning outcomes stated.

This module is compulsory to BSc Economics with a Year Abroad (All destinations)

Method of assessment

The module is assessed on a pass/fail basis. In order to pass the module, students will have to take the equivalent of 120 Kent Credits at the partner institution and successfully pass the year as documented by the transcript issued by the partner institution. In accordance with Annex 14, achieving passes in at least two-thirds of the credits taken as part of the FT load (40 ECTS) will be regarded as sufficient for a pass of the period abroad.

Learning outcomes

On successfully completing the module students will be able to:

1 Demonstrate critical knowledge, understanding and application of Economics in an international context.
2 Demonstrate cross-cultural skills from living and studying abroad in a different higher education environment.
3 Demonstrate acquisition of an ability to perform effectively in a different cultural and, in some cases, linguistic environment.

  1. Credit level 5. Intermediate level module usually taken in Stage 2 of an undergraduate degree.
  2. ECTS credits are recognised throughout the EU and allow you to transfer credit easily from one university to another.
  3. The named convenor is the convenor for the current academic session.
