Overview

The module will develop understanding and analytical skills in virology, based around interactive seminars wherein students will analyse, present, and discuss the relevant research literature. The students will gain experience in scientific design, literature analysis, scientific communication, and the analysis of experimental data.

Learning outcomes

1. Demonstrate an understanding of selected fields and the leading issues/hot topics in the field of virology and the limitations of our current knowledge about viruses and their biology.
2. Understand the concepts and functions behind standard cell biological, biochemical, and molecular biological assays used to study viruses.
