US elections panel event at Kent Open Day (5 October)

A panel event discussing the upcoming US elections will be held at a University Open Day on Saturday 5 October. It will take place in the Sibson building on the Canterbury campus 13.00-14.00 and is free and open to all. 

Experts from the School of Economics and Politics and International Relations will share their insights into the Republican and Democratic parties and the impact of either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris winning the presidency. They will also discuss what could happen to reproductive rights, the US economy and how foreign and domestic policy may be impacted.  

Prospective students and visitors will be able to ask the panel questions and experience a typical public engagement activity that Kent holds in response to real world events. 

The panellists will include: 

Dr Andrew Wroe – Senior Lecturer in American Politics. Dr Wroe is interested in the decline of political trust, and the effects of low trust and polarisation of American society on moral and social issues. 

Dr Rubrick Biegon – Lecturer in International Relations. Dr Biegon has convened modules on US foreign policy, international political economy, international security, terrorism and political violence, and foreign policy analysis. 

Dr Amanda Gosling - Senior Lecturer in Economics and Head of the School of Economics.Dr Gosling’s research interests include labour economics and applied econometrics. 

The event will be chair by Dr Nadine Ansorg, Reader in International Conflict Analysis.
