- Professor Alan Handyside
Professor Alan Handyside is a leading scientist in human embryology and the genetics of early human development.
In addition to his 35 years of publications in the basic biology of development, particularly at the preimplantation stage, he is widely credited as being the founding father of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and, more recently developed "Karyomapping" - a universal approach for detecting monogenic and chromosomal disorders simultaneously.
Professor Handyside has been actively engaged in an ongoing 25 year research collaboration with Professor Darren Griffin.
